24/07 - How to propagate herbs from cuttings
Cuttings is one of the most common propagation method for herbs, and a very inexpensive way to start or expand your collection. Join us to learn about different types of cuttings, the best times of year to take them and how to go about it.
07/08 - Controlling pests and diseases of herbs
Learn how to identify different pests and diseases that affect herbs and how to deal with them using organic methods.
21/08 - Weeds as food & medicine for you and your plants
Most of the weeds that drive gardeners crazy are actually amazing plants with a multitude of uses. In this session, we’ll discuss how to utilise these wonderful resources as food, medicine, and to add fertility and resilience to our gardens.
04/09 - DIY gardening
Get ideas on how to repurpose everyday items into useful gardening materials, from pots and seed trays to watering cans and propagation units, and learn how to make your own plant-based organic fertiliser, rooting hormone and pesticide.
18/09 - The wonders of seeds
Seeds are one of nature's most fascinating creations. In this session, we'll marvel at these tiny wonders and go over how to gather and save herb seeds to plant next season.
6-Week Herbal Wellbeing Course at The Recovery College - October 2019
Location: Recovery College, 23 Primrose Square, Hackney, E9 7TS
Course Dates: Wednesday 10.30am - 12.30pm 2nd October - 6th November 2019
A free course for people who live or work in Hackney that will show you how to use herbs for wellbeing. This hands-on course will show you how to use herbs to make your own herbal products to support your health. The course will cover using herbs for self-care, making natural remedies for skincare and how to boost health with seasonal herbs. We will explore together how nature can help to improve our wellbeing and share ideas from our own experiences as a group. During the course we will also go on a trip together to a local green space.

6 - Week Herbal Craft Course at The Centre for Better Health - October 2019
Our regular 6-week Herbal Craft course returns to The Centre for Better Health in October 2019.
Course Dates: 2nd October - 6th November 2019, Wednesday evenings 6.15 - 7.45pm
Unearth the history, properties and uses of herbs and learn how to make use of them in mind, body and home. Themes include:
Making your own herbal tea
Boosting health with seasonal herbs
Using herbs for skincare
Intro to growing your own herbs
Herbs for self care
