24/07 - How to propagate herbs from cuttings
Cuttings is one of the most common propagation method for herbs, and a very inexpensive way to start or expand your collection. Join us to learn about different types of cuttings, the best times of year to take them and how to go about it.
07/08 - Controlling pests and diseases of herbs
Learn how to identify different pests and diseases that affect herbs and how to deal with them using organic methods.
21/08 - Weeds as food & medicine for you and your plants
Most of the weeds that drive gardeners crazy are actually amazing plants with a multitude of uses. In this session, we’ll discuss how to utilise these wonderful resources as food, medicine, and to add fertility and resilience to our gardens.
04/09 - DIY gardening
Get ideas on how to repurpose everyday items into useful gardening materials, from pots and seed trays to watering cans and propagation units, and learn how to make your own plant-based organic fertiliser, rooting hormone and pesticide.
18/09 - The wonders of seeds
Seeds are one of nature's most fascinating creations. In this session, we'll marvel at these tiny wonders and go over how to gather and save herb seeds to plant next season.
6-Week Herbal Wellbeing Course at The Recovery College
Dates: Tuesday 18th June - 23rd July, 11am - 1pm (Taster session 14th June, 1-4pm)

A free course for Hackney residents that will show you how to use herbs for wellbeing. This hands-on course will show you how to grow your own herbs and use them to make your own herbal products to support your health. The course will cover organic gardening, making your own herbal remedies to support mind and body and how to use herbs for self-care. We will explore together how nature can help to improve our wellbeing and share ideas from our own experiences as a group. During the course we will spend time in the garden learning about how to grow herbs and how to look after them. We will also go on a trip to a local garden. The course is split into two parts with Part 2 taking place in the Autumn term.
