Grow your own herbs workshop

This informative workshop will be a mix of theory and practical activities to give you all the knowledge to feel confident about growing your own herbs. It is also suitable for complete beginners and those who already have some gardening or growing experience.

Course outline:

- Growing herbs in different conditions: urban growing, raised beds, in pots, on window sills, roof spaces etc.

- Soil care, maintaining herbs and natural feeds to nurture your plants

- Propagation, growing herbs from seed, cuttings or division

- Harvesting, drying and storage of herbs

- Applications of herbs for tea, cosmetics and natural remedies

Tickets £40, which includes all the materials, a full set of handouts plus a goodie bag with 3 packets of seed, a herb plant and pair of herb cutters. You'll also take home sown seeds and herb cuttings that you will do during the class.

Drinks and light refreshments will be be provided. Participants can bring their own lunch or have lunch in the cafe at the Farm.

Join us for a masterclass on Herbal Wellbeing. We will be sharing our tips and tricks for crafting your own herbal goodies. The workshop will talk you through the basics of how we turn herbs into products and you will get a chance to have a go yourself and take home what you make. You will take home a personalised lip balm, a pack of your own crafted teabags and a relaxation spray.

Tickets £20 to include all materials and light refreshments.

Pay-it-forward Medicine Making Workshop

Hackney Herbal and Hedge Herbs are joining forces to run an informative hands-on workshop session where you will learn about herbal medicine and get the chance to make your own remedies to take home. We'll be joined by medical herbalist Rasheeqa Ahmad for an afternoon of medicine making, learning techniques to create your own home apothecary. As well as making a set of your own medicines you will be helping to make supplies that will be donated to the refugee solidarity campaign run by Herbalists Without Borders.

Participants will go home with new skills, several newly prepared remedies including a chest rub and a cough syrup to enjoy personally and the knowledge that they have made batches of herbal medicine that will offer healing to those who need it most.

Tickets £30 (£20 Concessions) to include all materials and light refreshments.

Blend Your Own Herbal Tea Workshop

Join us for an evening workshop where we will be sharing our top tips for blending your own herbal tea. The workshop will talk you through the basics of how we turn herbs into products and you will get a chance to have a go yourself and take home what you make. We will be brewing up some of our favourite blends during the class for you to try out. You will take home a pack of your own specially crafted teabags.

Herbal Soap making workshop

A beginner’s introduction to the traditional method of cold process soap making. The demonstrations in this workshop will give you the confidence (and the comprehensive notes) to start making your own soaps with equipment you probably already have at home. You will take home two soaps that you have decorated yourself, a full set of soap making notes and a Hackney Herbal goodie bag

Course Content:

Basic chemistry of soap
Commonly used oils & fats
Lye safety handling and calculations
Basic soap making with natural oils
Herbs for skincare
