On Wednesday 18th May, we'll be taking part in City and Hackney Mind's annual Take a Pause eventin the beautiful surrounds of the Dalston Curve Garden. Come and say hi and have a go at making your own herbal tea bag on our stall.
🍬 M I N D C A N D Y 🍬 Had lots of fun devising this special blend for upcoming supper club @feedyourmindcandy put on by our new friend and neighbour @lauren_lovatt to inspire and promote good mental health, taking place @loveshack_ldn We’ve put together a combination of digestive and nervine herbs to create the perfect mind nourishing after dinner brew. This six-herb blend is made from Lemon balm, Lavender, Chamomile, Skullcap, Oat straw and Lime blossom. Nervine herbs are used to support the nervous system. They can be calming to over thinking minds, offering relief to stressed out brains and tension-ridden bodies. Good job we super packed this blend with these wonderful plant allies. 😋🌿🍬
We don’t usually do selfies but... wanted to share this view of the amazing new temperate house @kewgardens and show you how happy it made us! If you haven’t been yet, it’s definitely worth a visit. If you go at this time of year you also get to see all the colours of Autumn and get lost in the woods without the summer crowds. We enjoyed reading up on plants from far flung places, seeing the light through the trees in the woods and exploring whilst there weren’t too many other people around! Have you been to Kew recently, what’s your favourite part?

We’ve been busy in the studio packing up some teas for stockists and bespoke orders for Christmas gifts and hampers. We love working with other brands and businesses to create something really special. Our blends are created from a mix of our own Hackney-grown herbs and organically sourced herbs. They are put together by hand at our studio and come packed in recyclable and biodegradable packaging. All the profits from the teas go towards our free community activities helping people to come together and learn about the wonderful world of herbs. If you are after some bespoke gifts for your workplace, clients or colleagues, we’d love to hear from you! Big thanks to everyone who has recently ordered from us including @remindstudio @edgeandcompany @surfacematter 🙏🏼🌿

Allowing our bodies and minds to rest at night is one of the best free things we can do for our health. But it doesn’t come easy for all of us. So many things can affect our sleep, whether it be pain or discomfort, troubled thoughts, exhaustion or reasons we haven’t managed to pin down yet. In yesterday’s class with our Herb Group at Mind we talked about herbs that can help us to unwind, relax and quieten our minds before going to bed. We looked at a selection of essential oils and had a go at making these sleep sprays. It’s just one thing you can try to help create a calm atmosphere in the evening. They are also nice to carry around with you for moments of stress. We used essential oils like Vetiver, Frankincense, Rose, Chamomile and Lavender. What herbs do you use to help you relax? We’d love to hear your tips!🌿😴

Meet one of our favourite winter remedies, fire cider. It’s made by infusing Apple cider vinegar with a mixture of medicinal herbs and foods. This batch contains garlic, ginger, onion, turmeric, horseradish, chilli, cayenne pepper, rosemary, sage, thyme and lemon. We leave it to infuse for 4 weeks and then strain out the herbs to leave a super punchy tonic harnessing the anti-microbial, anti-viral and anti-bacterial constituents of the plants. The Apple cider vinegar is a great solvent to draw out a lot of minerals from the plants too. Once strained you can use honey to sweeten it. It’s a wonderful remedy for boosting your immune system during the colder months and is our go to when we feel a cold or flu coming on. Have you ever tried some? 🔥🌿
Lovely Autumn light and warmth inside the greenhouse today. Enjoying the brightness of these scented geraniums. These were all propagated from cuttings earlier in the year. Having a bit of a tidy in the garden today, sorting pots and planting crocus, hyacinth and iris bulbs. Who has been enjoying the sunshine today? Have you planted any bulbs? 🌿🌿
