Plant the Highstreet at Sutton House // Herbal Tea Making

On Saturday 20th we will be taking part in Sutton House’s National Park City Event. There is a trail starting at Sutton House to explore the local greening projects that are making Homerton greener, wilder and healthier.

Camila will be at Sutton House between 12 - 4pm for a *FREE* drop-in herbal tea making workshop so come by if you are in the area.  You can also come and find out about our new community gardening project at the new garden in Hackney Wick.

The event is inspired by 10x Greener – a resident project, supported by Friends of the Earth, which is greening the Daubeney Fields neighbourhood near Hackney Marshes. This event is part of the Mayor of London’s National Park City Festival to celebrate the city’s open spaces and make London greener and wilder.

International Women's Day Screening: Juliette of the Herbs

To celebrate International Women’s Day we will be hosting a special screening about one of our favourite herbalists.

Juliette of the Herbs is a beautifully filmed lyrical portrait of the life and work of Juliette de Bairacli Levy: herbalist, author, breeder of Afghan hounds, friend of the Gypsies, traveller in search of herbal wisdom and pioneer of holistic veterinary medicine. Juliette’s well-loved and now classic herbals for animals and for children have been a vital inspiration for the present day herbal renaissance.

For more than 70 years Juliette lived with the Gypsies, nomads and peasants of the world, learning the healing arts from these people who live close to nature, and learning from nature herself. Juliette’s life story is as colourful and exciting as her tremendous wealth of herbal knowledge.

Filmed on location in Greece, Spain, France, Portugal, Switzerland, England and America, and interwoven with Juliette’s vast collection of archival photographs, together with scenes of Gypsies dancing and Bedouins with their herds, Juliette of the Herbs is an inspiring portrait of a remarkable woman.

About the producer

Tish Streeten, producer, director and editor, has been making films for more than 30 years. She was born and grew up in Oxford, England and for ten years after leaving school, she worked all over Europe as an organic farmer, gardener and herbalist. Today Tish runs Queen Mab’s CSM (Community Supported Herbal Medicine) which offers members home made, locally grown herbal medicines. She is currently fundraising for a new film - Tulsi, Queen of herbs. Find out more here.

Tickets £5 donation

Film will screen at 1.30pm and is 75 minutes long.
